Christmas Markets

These are traditional and highly popular in Madrid. You will notice that several Christmas markets begin to pop up as the seasons change. At these markets, you are able to explore the streets on foot and find various sweets and trinkets. They are great for people of all ages, and guaranteed to get you into the Christmas spirit.

Lights

Some of the best Christmas lights can be seen during a 45-minute bus journey. The fare costs 2 euros, and will take you through the city where you will be able to witness the most impressive lights. This is a tradition that the people of Madrid love to participate in. You can board the Navibus from the front of Jardines del Descubrimiento.

Ice Skating

There are a handful of ice skating rinks that begin to pop up in the city during Christmas time. The whole family can enjoy this fun activity. Starting in November, you can skate in Plaza de Felipe II and Plaza de la Luna. In December, the rink opens in Centro Cultural Conde Duque.

Nativity Scenes

There are many beautifully displayed nativity scenes throughout the city of Madrid in December. Some of the best ones can be found in Plaza Mayor, Calle Jorge Juan, and Plaza de Cibeles. Lots of time and effort goes into the production of each nativity scene.
